Gigant helps Atlas Copco lift safely

The Surface and Exploration Drilling department at Atlas Copco in Örebro needed a way to keep track of their different Rounds (a Lifting tools in durable polyester). Together with Gigant , they started a pilot project to optimize the handling.

In the past, Rounds were checked manually at Atlas Copco and recorded by means of an ID number written on a sewn-in note.

- It was enough that the note was difficult to read and we had to discard an otherwise functional Rounds. In addition, our old system did not cover any information about where the round belonged. This led to Rounds being "borrowed" between workstations, which could create confusion," says Tove Hedengren, who was the driving force behind the project at Atlas Copco.

Gigant advised Atlas Copco to test the new Gigant Inspector system in a pilot project. They are now using Gigant Rounds that have been tagged with an RFID tag that can easily be scanned and entered into a database. In this way, each Rounds also gets its given place in production. The result is increased safety, higher efficiency and lower material costs.
