Product guide: Service and maintenance

Every industry has a service and maintenance workshop that helps the business with a little of everything. The people who work here rarely stand still at their workbench all day, but start from there and then carry out maintenance work on site at the machine, line, etc.

In the Service and Maintenance Workshop Product Guide, we highlight common problems in this workplace and guide you to product solutions to help you overcome them. What can we help you with?

Our approach to finding the right solution

The main requirement for a service and maintenance workshop is flexibility, as many different types of work are carried out here. There should also be a mobile workplace, as a lot of the work is carried out on site.

1. LIGHTING

Problem: It is dark.

Solution: There should be good dimmable task lighting that illuminates large parts of the workspace. In this way, you get good lighting that can also be easily adjusted according to who is working there and what tasks are being performed.

2. CLEANING

Problem: It is dusty and dirty.

Solution: Delimit the workplace with a mobile roll-up or screen wall that prevents dirt from spreading out into the room.

3. INFORMATION

Problem: There is no computer so it is difficult to access current information.

Solution: Attach magnetic pockets to, for example, the noise reducing walls with instructions, procedures and ongoing information. Available in A4 and A5 size.

4. DIFFICULT

Problem: Things get messy quickly.

Solution: Sort and dispose of waste to create order in the workplace. If there is a risk of something being flammable, the bin should be fitted with a self-closing lid. By choosing several bins in different colours, a waste sorting system can easily be created. In close proximity to the service workshop, it is good to have a tipping container where, for example, scrap metal can be sorted and disposed of. Mark where pallets and Pallet lifters should be placed.

5. CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT

Problem: What does environmental law say about the management of chemicals?

Solution: On the Swedish Work Environment Authority's website www.av.se you can read about the rules that apply, AFS 2014:43 Chemical work environment risks or contact us at Gigant.

6. WORKING POSITION

Problem: Uncomfortable working positions during repairs.

Solution: With Lift Tables , the height is easily adjusted and when not in use it can be lowered to the floor. The Lift Tables can also handle very high loads up to 1000 kg

7. MOBILITY

Problem: The equipment in the workshop cannot be adapted to those of us who work there.

Solution: The mobile workbench can work very well as a service cart. There is plenty of storage in

cabinets and drawers and with the help of an extension system , space is provided for tool panel, trays on tray rails, paper towel holders, trash can and much more. An ergonomic workplace that is easy to move and where it is easy to keep order and tidiness. Make sure you always have a well-stocked tool bag on wheels that can be easily pulled along. A Mobile roll-up is a good solution for shielding when working in production. It creates a calm and safe workplace and reduces the amount of dirt that gets out into the room.

8. AMOUNT OF LIGHT

Problem: After a day at work, people often feel very tired.

Solution: There should be a dimmable task light that illuminates large parts of the work area. It is very good if it can also be angled. Sometimes a combination with a magnifying lamp may also be needed.

9. STRUCTURE

Problem: It is difficult to organize all the things stored in the workshop.

Solution: Tool panels are provided with silhouettes of the tools that should be in place. This makes it easier to know where to put things back after use and it quickly becomes clear if something is missing. Create a structure by using different colors of trays and storage trays in the back and shelf rack. Use labels on the trays and drawers on the front as well as on the dividers to make it clear what goes where.

10. HEAVY LIFTING

Problem: The machines handled are often heavy to lift.

Solution: Put pillar jacks in the service trolley to have with you when you, for example, pick up a machine for service or repair. A Wall swing tap together with an electric hoist facilitates lifting at the workplace. The swing tap does not take up any floor space, which also makes it easier to clean and keep clean.
