Product guide: Welding

Almost all manufacturing industries have some form of welding workplace. In many industries, welding is part of the core business and a major part of daily work. Common health and safety problems encountered in welding workplaces include poor lighting, high noise levels, lack of space, difficulty in accessing welds from different angles, or inadequate extraction.

In the Welding Workplace Product Guide, we highlight common problems in the welding workplace and guide you to product solutions to help you overcome them. What can we help you with?

Our approach to finding the right solution

Have you ever experienced problems with, for example, poor lighting, high noise levels or getting access to weld from all different angles? These are some of the common problems in welding workplaces around the country.

1. LIGHTING

Problem: Poor lighting

Solution: Combine different types of lighting to achieve the best results, general lighting, floodlights from the ceiling, mobile lighting or suspended luminaires. Attach the lighting to the mounting system on the assembly trolley, which can then be easily moved as needed.

2ND BULLER

Problem: High noise level

Solution: Install noise reducing panels and walls to effectively dampen noise for those working inside the workplace, but also for those working outside the welding workplace.

3. RHYME

Problem: It is too crowded

Solution: Using mobile walls and screens and motorized curtains, create a flexible workplace that can be easily adapted to your needs.

4. ACCESSIBILITY

Problem: The objects are often so large that you have to stand on pallets to reach them

Solution: Use height-adjustable pillars to attach fixtures to, or contact your Gigant sales representative for a solution where you can easily create a height-adjustable welding table complete customized to your wishes.

4. ACCESS

Problem: Access to and cleaning of the welding site and under the welding table is difficult

Solution: Attach e.g. extractors, hose and cable reels, etc. to the noise reducing walls so that they come up from the floor. Build the welding table on pillars for easy access to cleaning.

6. MANUAL LIFTING

Problem: The jib crane is always busy, so many lifts are usually done manually

Solution: Ensure that there is a slewing crane or slewing jib at each workstation. If the space is small and many jibs have to fit into a small area, consider placing the solutions at different heights.

7. STORAGE

Problem: What does the law say about storing gas tubes?

Solution: What is not used for daily use must be stored in an environmentally secured Gas cabinet. Regulations for flammable and explosive goods (SIND-FS 1981:2, SÄIFS 1989:1, 7989:3, 1989:12 and 1991:2), flammable gas (SÄIFS 1989:7) and explosives (SFS 1988:868 and SFS 1988:1145).
