SM stands for Spunbond+Meltblown and is a material that has a coating on the top side. This makes it resistant to wear and tear and fiber release on the top, but can maintain a fast and high absorbency underneath. This material is best suited where you need an absorbent with a fast and high absorption capacity, but which can also withstand the hard wear from above, such as pallet trucks and foot traffic.
